Mondaze

My good friend Skip asked me a few months ago if I wanted to see Morrissey at Bowery Ballroom a couple months ago. I was like WAIT WHAT HOW? and then YES!

And finally, Saturday, the night where I was finally able to see Morrissey in the flesh in the smallest venue he could play in New York City, came. It came and I came hard. He opened the show with "This Charming Man," which makes me think of my dear friend Pat "I would go out tonight, but I haven't got a stitch to wear." Most of the songs he played were from his new album, or I just didn't know them, but it didn't matter. The songs are still ill (oh you like how I did that) and they fucking rocked. And Morrissey, OH MORRISSEY, you do it to us all, even though you've aged ever so slightly.

A clip from the show:

I was really happy to hear and see "How Soon is Now." Fuck emo, Morrissey FO LIFE.

The rest of the weekend, needless to say, was awesome. It involved Soba Ya, beer, homemade croque madames (yes I'm the master), and Eastbound and Down. Can't wait to see you, 'til next time weekend.

Brigitte Lin is a gangsta bitch.

Here's the proof:

Wong Kar-Wai is my latest favorite movie director. I watched Chungking Express (grab yo ticket, come get wit it) last night... I have LOVED every single film of his that I've watched in the past few months, and Chungking Express is no exception. In the Mood for Love might still be my favorite, but with scenes like those above and lines like "Somehow I've become very cautious. When I put on a raincoat, I put on sunglasses too. Who knows when it will rain, or when it will turn out sunny?" it's impossible for me to not love this.

Vive le cinéma!

Z (1969)

Concurrently, the military banned long hair on males; mini-skirts; Sophocles; Tolstoy; Euripedes; smashing glasses after drinking toasts; labor strikes; Aristophanes; Ionesco; Sartre; Albee; Pinter; freedom of the press; sociology; Beckett; Dostoyevsky; modern music; popular music; the new mathematics; and the letter "Z", which in ancient Greek means "He is alive!"

From the credits:

Any resemblance to actual events, to persons living or dead, is not the result of chance. It is DELIBERATE.

If you haven't seen it, you should watch Z by Costa-Gavras as soon as possible. This is one of my favorite movies of all time.

Unas vacaciones, !POR FIN!

I will be visiting my grandma here until Sunday, as of tomorrow morning:

I haven't been on a proper vacation in so long. I think the last time was in February 2007 and I went to Madrid to visit my friends, which was awesome, duh. My grandma is so cute, her plans for us include having dinner on the banana boat and going to a doo wop show.

VACATION HERE I COME!

More doodles!

I have this bi-weekly meeting that is VERY engaging, as you can tell.

Tough Week

This week has been tough for me for reasons beyond my wisdom teeth. Here's a few things helping me get through:

I really need it to be the weekend. As soon as motherfucking possible.

Quelques choses similaires...

This cut out that my friend Kaelea found on flickr looks a lot like the scripted tattoo I have on my arm.

Sorry the quality of that picture is so shitty. I will replace it when I can take a shot with my real camera instead of my cell phone camera.

Ce sont tres similaires!

Peaches Geldof

I'm not afraid to say it, I love the majority of Peaches Geldof's tattoos. Maybe because the one I have and my plans for future tattoos are scripted words, which she has a bunch of.

Rock your shit, girl.

Straight G Ya See

I got my wisdom teeth pulled on Friday. Zero painkillers and three days later, I'm back at work with this shiner on my face. I'm slightly swollen and a little sore, but the worst part is the oozing blood and the stitches up in my grill.

Apparently I have a high tolerance for pain. It's 'cuz I'm a natural born gangsta. I think I'm going to reward myself with a tattoo.

If people ask, I may just say I got in a fight.

[PS Don't mind the black specks. My cell phone has been through hell and back and some dirt got in there. God made dirt and dirt don't hurt.]
